Do It Yourself Tips for Faux Painting
alt="Do It Yourself Tips for Faux Painting" class="ImgBorder">
So what is this whole hoopla about faux painting? And what is faux painting? Faux painting comes from the French word faux, which means fake. So essentially faux painting is creating a fake surface with the use of paints and glaze. And its not just creating a fake surface of silk, faux painting can be used to create finishes of stone, wood, marble or raw silk textures. Faux painting is a great way to give your home a makeover or to create warmth and depth without spending too much or creating too much of a mess.
Faux Painting DIY tips
Faux painting is great fun and a great Do It Yourself activity. It is a way to brighten up your house and for members of your family to work together and have fun. Here are some tips on Do It Yourself Faux painting:

Always begin any DIY activity by preparing for things, for faux painting it includes preparing your walls. Use masking tape on your ceiling and baseboards to make sure that the job is neat. Also cover your floor with a cloth and not with plastic. The cloth absorbs the paint quickly and will be less messy than plastic.
Faux Painting Techniques
There are some typical faux painting techniques which result in different finishes, here is a brief on some of them:
- Combing: this is for those who want a dramatic effect. Combing takes a while to do, as it is a complicated procedure, which involves dragging a comb or brush in the paint in a continuous motion for the desired effect. You can create patterns of plains and basket weave with this technique.
- Sponging: this is the easiest and most popular technique of faux painting. You need to use a sponge with different colors over the base coat and blend it in for the desired effect. Always use a natural sea sponge and not the synthetic one for the desired effect.
- Ragging: is a process lot like sponging but the only difference is it uses a rag instead of a sea sponge.
- Color washing: this is a technique that gives the most subdued and natural look to a room. It involves using a paintbrush in a haphazard manner over the base coat. Use two or more colors depending on how dramatic you want the wall to look.
Whatever finish or faux painting technique you want and use, make sure that you have fun while doing it, and remember the best thing about faux painting is that there is no right or wrong methodjust have fun and make your walls look great!!

DIY Wart Removal
Author: R.J. Howard
Warts are a very common problem. They can also be really expensive if you go to the doctor to have them removed. However, if you ignore them, they can enlarge or spread.
There are a number of over-the-counter wart removal systems and medications. The gels, patches, sticks, and liquids work, but they take forever. Who wants to fool with this every day for 2-6 weeks?
Several wart freezing systems have hit the market in the last couple years. These work, but they're very expensive ($15 to $25 for about 12 treatments). On a per-wart basis, it's still cheaper than going to the doctor, since each wart usually requires only 1-2 treatments.
What if I told you that you could slash the cost of treatment to just pennies? Would you be interested?
After doing a little research, I discovered that the freezing systems are simply aerosol propellant. That’s some pretty expensive propellant!
You can get very similar results with a $5 can of compressed air, using these steps:
1. Buy a can of compressed air from an office or computer store. This is sold for blowing dust and debris from computers and electronics.
2. Turn the can upside down, hold a cotton swab in front of the opening, and press the trigger.
3. Hold trigger down until the swab is soaked with propellant.
4. Quickly touch the swab to the wart, and hold for 20-30 seconds.
5. Wart should get smaller or disappear within about two weeks.
6. Retreat after two weeks if necessary.
That’s it, other than a few cautions and warnings:
* NEVER spray can near a flame, lit cigarette, or your face.
* NEVER use near eyes or on eyelids.
* NEVER, NEVER, NEVER inhale fumes from any aerosol product, including compressed air.
* Do not overtreat; more is NOT better. Holding swap on skin too long can cause a bad case of freezer burn and permanent scarring.
* Read instructions and warnings on compressed air can
This procedure is not recommended for moles or keratoses, due to the fact that they can be cancerous or pre-cancerous. See your dermatologist for these.
Here’s another DIY wart treatment: Duct tape. Cover the wart with duct tape for six days, then soak the foot in water and rub the wart with an emery board or pumice stone. Repeat the process for a couple of months until the wart goes away. Some believe this irritates the wart and surrounding skin, prompting the body’s immune system to attack.

How to Improve Your English Speaking Very Fast
How do you learn how to speak English very fast? Is it possible to accelerate your English speaking ability? Is it possible to make massive improvements in only 2-3 months? The answer is yes. But of course, to make massive improvements requires massive intensity and effort. So, how can you do it? How can you improve super-fast? What do I recommend for this kind of goal?
1. Obsession
The first and most important thing you need to achieve this goal is incredible passion. You must have tremendous emotional power to learn super-fast. Why? Because you must study English 8-14 hours a day and every hour you must be alert, interested, and energetic. To improve that quickly, you must build emotion. You must be obsessed with English. You must be passionate and incredibly enthusiastic. Remember, Emotion is 80% of success, method is only 20%.
To create passion, you need very compelling reasons to learn English. Just doing well on a test is not a strong enough reason. Just getting a new job is not a strong enough reason. You need HUGE reasons for doing this. Imagine all the incredible benefits you will have as a fluent English speaker. Imagine how your life will change 5 years from now. 10 years from now. 20 years from now. If you are motivated by money, imagine how English will make you amazingly rich. Visualize your dream house, your dream car, your dream life.
If love motivates you, imagine how English will help you meet incredible people from other countries. Imagine dating beautiful/handsome foreigners! Imagine incredible love and passion, possible because you are a fluent English speaker. You can also exaggerate the terrible things that will happen if you fail to speak English fluently. Imagine all the jobs you will miss. Imagine all the people you will never meet. Imagine how bad your life will be because you cannot speak English. Make your reasons bigger! Bigger reasons = Bigger Passion. Bigger Passion = Bigger Success. Emotions is the key. Make your emotion stronger! Become obsessed with English!
2. Massive Input
The second key to super-fast learning and incredible intensity is to focus on English INPUT. Do not waste time studying grammar or vocabulary. Do not waste time trying to speak. You should spend all of your time either listening or reading. This is the fastest and most efficient method for speaking English fluently.
Carry your iPod everywhere. Always have a book with you. Specifically, you should listen mostly to Mini-Story Lessons, Point of View Lessons, and Audio Articles. These are the most powerful kinds of lessons and will help you learn the fastest. You should read easy English novels, starting with novels for children. Absolutely do not waste time reading textbooks!
3. Massive Intensity
To be fluent in only 2-3 months, you must create massive intensity. In other words, you have to listen and read 8-14 hours a day, every day. You must listen constantly to English. You must read constantly. In fact, I recommend alternating the two activities. Listen for an hour, then read a novel for an hour. Then listen again for an hour. Then another hour of novel reading.
If you are really focused on speaking well, do more listening. But do not worry, reading will also help your speaking ability. So that is it. That is my simple method for very fast English fluency. Of course, most people do not need to improve so quickly. For most people, two hours a day of listening and reading is enough. But if you need or want to improve very quickly, follow this plan. Good luck!

DIY Hardwood Floor Refinishing For Beginners
If your once beautiful hardwood floors are starting to look worn, scratched, and damaged, it might be time to try DIY hardwood floor refinishing. If you’ve been wondering, “can I refinish hardwood floors myself,” don't worry. Hardwood floor refinishing doesn’t have to be difficult if you have the right tools and knowledge, and it can make your floors have the glow of brand new wood again!
First, before you begin the refinishing process, take a look at your old floors. Fill any large cracks or gouges. If your floor is not in good shape, you can use a commercial paint stripper and some kind of putty knife to scrape off the old finish and begin again. This is a great option when there are many stains on the old floor.
The second step in DIY hardwood floor refinishing is that you will need to sand down your floors. You can use a drum sander or orbital sander for the main part of the floor, and you will also need an edge sander for the area around the walls and corners. To get beautiful, well-sanded floors, start with heavy grit sandpaper and sequentially work your way down to lighter grit sandpaper. You will need to do several sandings.

Next, it is time to stain the floor. You can achieve practically any color using stains, but pick the color carefully. Another option is to keep the natural color of the floor, in which case you can skip this step. Follow the instructions on the can of stain and make sure to let the stain set for the recommended time period.
The next step in DIY hardwood floor refinishing is to apply a finish. Once again, you will want to follow the instructions on the can. Generally, at least two coats will need to be applied, and you will need to leave time for the finish to dry properly between coats. A special brush or roller is used to apply the finish smoothly and evenly.
Do it yourself hardwood refinishing requires some basic experience in DIY home projects as well as the right equipment. However, it is a simple and rewarding job that will increase your home’s value and make your hardwood shine with its natural beauty. Make sure you have recruited some people to help, because the sanding and finishing process can be time-consuming.
